Resources for Faculty Mentors

Faculty Mentors play a key role in providing opportunities for students to work on pieces of their own research agenda, or guiding students in independent projects.  SOURCE supports faculty mentors by:

  • Coaching students on best practices for seeking and working with a faculty mentor
  • Assisting faculty to find student research assistants, if desired
  • Providing research stipend support for mentors of SOURCE grant recipients
  • Facilitating transparent student/mentor relationships with a student/mentor contract
  • Troubleshooting and mediating if issues arise
  • Recognizing and promoting the invaluable role of faculty mentors in making undergraduate research and creative activity possible

Superb student research work is made possible by inspiring and dedicated faculty mentors. SOURCE works with faculty through all phases of student research – from helping recruit students to supporting your mentorship to providing funding for your student’s project. We also ask that you assist us in tracking data for undergraduate research by reporting on the students that work with you. You can contact us at (315) 443 – 2091 or ugresearch@syr.edu.
